The number of lens elements has been minimized through the use of the latest optical design technology. And three high-precision glass-molded aspherical lenses are made possible by SIGMA's Aizu factory, its only production facility. Despite its large aperture of F2.8, it is the smallest and lightest in its class*2 with a maximum diameter of φ65.4mm, length of 74.5mm and weight of 290g*1.
This large aperture standard zoom lens makes it easy to carry around with you on a daily basis.
Because the body is small and lightweight, the materials and structure of the parts are carefully selected.
By using "TSC (Thermally Stable Composite)" polycarbonate, which has a thermal shrinkage rate close to that of aluminum, in appropriate places, we have achieved stable performance, good operability, and lightweight design even in environments with changing temperatures.
By deliberately using metal for part of the internal structure, we have been able to make the parts thin and ensure a high level of rigidity, making it durable enough to withstand everyday use and providing a light and easy-to-use feel.

A stepping motor is used for the AF actuator.
The fast and quiet AF is ideal for both still images and video recording.
Because the filming equipment is small and lightweight, it can be flexibly used in any situation where high mobility is required, such as handheld filming, gimbal filming, one-man operation video shooting, and vlog shooting.
When combined with the “pocketable full-frame” SIGMA fp, the total weight is just 712g.
It can also be useful as a secondary lens for a full-frame camera when you want to minimize the amount of luggage you are carrying.
